water shut off valve.
5) Know how
to turn all of them off!
6) Do a 360*
around your house- know what it looks like.
After an Emergency
1) Do a 360*
around your house.

Use your senses
1)
What do you see?
-is
your home off the foundation or leaning
-
are there large cracks
-is
it significantly different compared to your original 360?
2)
What do you hear?
-
funny creaks and moans?
-a
hissing that would indicate a gas leak?
3)
What do you smell?
-
can you smell something funny? smoke, Natural or propane gas?
2) If
everything is fine then you can enter and shelter in your home.
3) However,
WHEN IN DOUBT, STAY OUT! Go with your
gut!
4) If you
see, hear, or smell anything…
1)
Shut off the Gas Meter
-Make
sure your tool fits
-call
gas company and fire department
-open
the doors to air out
2)
Circuit Breaker
-
The spark from the electricity can create an explosion with natural gas, that is why if there
is leak you need to turn off the electricity.
-
It is safer to shut off individual breakers before the main breaker.
3)
Water
-
turn off if evacuated or leaking.
