You Can Do
it!
Why is it
important to be prepared?
*Preparedness helps our brains to be
able to focus more quickly and act when needed.
*2 out 3 times families will be in
different locations when a disaster strikes.
This means you or even your children
will have to deal with emergencies alone.
Do you know what to
do? Do your children?
Step 1
Check out your area. For example in Cache Valley we could
effectively be cut off from others in a
natural disaster. This means that it
might take time for help to arrive. You need to be prepared to take care of
yourself until then.
Tools to
Help
1) Personal Revelation and Guidance
from Heavenly Father- every situation is different and there is no one size
fits all.
2) Take information and personalize
it! INDIVIDUALIZE with your families for
your needs.
3) Keep it SIMPLE
4) Help each other- we are not
alone!
If your
neighbors not ready, then you’re not!
Once there was a couple who had decided to go for a hike in
Zion’s National Park. On the way there
they decided to stop and buy some fresh fruit for their journey. The wife really wanted a watermelon, she was
insistent enough that the husband agreed.
(However, he promised that he would not be the one to carry it.) Later, just as the husband predicted, the
wife grew tired of carrying the watermelon.
She placed it in a shady place and thought they would get it on their
way out. The couple followed a different
path out, leaving the watermelon behind.
Meanwhile, a man who had been hiking
and lost for days was near the end of his life.
He had decided to sit down and die, when he suddenly saw a
watermelon. He ate and the watermelon
preserved his life until he could find his way to safety.
What do we learn?
1st- God is in our lives
and will help us.
2nd- You never know what
skills you might have that can help another.
